About Dr. Eades
Dr. Suzanne Eades is a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, and former Certified Academic Language Therapist and school counselor who has been working with children with learning issues for over twenty-five years. Dr. Eades specializes in psychoeducational testing and counseling for children through young adults.
Dr. Eades attended Southern Methodist University, graduating with double majors in psychology and English, and one and one-half years later with a M.A. degree in psychology. While completing her masters, Dr. Eades also attended the Learning Therapy Program at SMU and practiced as a Certified Academic Language Therapist for almost ten years. During this period, she maintained a private practice and taught at Oak Hill Academy. Further education was calling to her, feeling driven to expand her expertise, and she completed her Ph.D. at Texas Woman’s University in school psychology and counseling. During this period she married and began a family. Dr. Eades returned to Oak Hill Academy, providing counseling services and facilitating social skills groups. When her children entered formal education, she took on a more full time role and in 2008 was named director of the Assessment Center at Oak Hill. There she not only conducted psychoeducational evaluations but also provided consultation services to families and supervised other psychologists entering the field. Over the years Dr. Eades also has taught in an adjunct role at SMU, provided in-services for teachers at several schools, and led seminars on topics related to psychology.
Giving back to the community also has been an important part of Dr. Eades’ life. For many years she served on the board of the Dallas Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, her roles including president and chair of the annual conference. More recently her focus has centered around her daughters’ activities, being a Girl Scout leader and over the years holding numerous volunteer positions at her daughters' schools. Her husband and she also appreciate being involved in charitable organizations.
With her varied background providing both psychological and educational services, Dr. Eades has a unique perspective. She takes great pride in looking at each individual, not only to identify areas of weakness and methods to improve, but also recognizing strengths for which one can capitalize. Families describe especially appreciating that they understand the issues and feel a good direction to move forward. Others desire a more ongoing relationship, which sometimes includes therapeutic services.
